Located in the remote village of Kuma in Mendi, Southern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea, the Komolom Farmers Association (KFA) is committed to sustainable aquaculture. Our community-driven efforts focus on freshwater salmon farming to support local food security and economic development.
Our mission is to fight poverty and improve local food security through sustainable fish farming. Over 2,000 men, women, and children from our poverty-driven community have contributed K10.00 each to become members and owners of the association. Their dedication and contributions make our work possible.
KFA specializes in producing high-quality freshwater salmon and fingerlings. Despite limited resources, our team, led by Daniel Simbil Dopo and the entire community work tirelessly to dig new ponds and operate a hatchery made from bush materials. Our efforts ensure a reliable supply of nutritious salmon to our community and beyond.
The entire Komolom clan is actively involved in our fish farming project. Community members contribute their labor and expertise, digging ponds and maintaining the hatchery. This collective effort not only fosters a strong sense of ownership but also provides valuable skills and employment opportunities.
